Chutes and Ladders
Language is one of those things that are both a hindering and an aiding factor in communication. Because of language, we are able to exteriorize feelings, needs emotions and all sorts of ideas. Language helps us understand the world, and is completely natural to organisms. Language comes built in. For example, a venemous snake warns other animals that it is dangerous with its bright colors. Also, if it wasn't for language, all the information that we have discovered throughout the years would be lost. We would have to constantly do it, over and pver again, with no hopes of passing it down to another generation so they can ellaborate on it. The advances we have achieved in our society have been possible through the passdown of information through language.
In order for an effective communication to happen, all the elements involved have to have the same code of language to able to interpret it and understand what the message is. Since language is so antural to us, we often communicate things without even noticing, for example through body language. This is where it gets tricky. Non-verbal language is open for interpretation, and people might decode our gestures in a way different than the one we initiaally meant. This is a hindering factor of some sorts of language, it is SUBJECTIVE. Similarly, in literature, we often get lost in the understanding of what the author is saying through ellaborate statements such as metaphors and allegories. Since it can have an infinite number of interpretations, it remains open for them. However, objective codes of language may also be a hinder to effective communication. For example, איך בין גוט might mean nothing to you. But for someone who speaks yiddish it means ''I am good''.
All in all, language is a vital, and unevitable, part of our nature. If we learn to use it effectively, we can communicate many ideas and advance and progress in our learning. If we get lost in translation, or too caught up in the subjectiveness of it, we will not be able to understand or exteriorize ideas.
The final example for this is is, you might or might not understand the meaning of the title of this entry.
